From Mississauga’s cold streets to the warm shores of Jamaica, Chillaa holds it down. His Caribbean influenced production has played a part in shaping the island infused sound that is now synonymous with the GTA. Sexually charged lyrics blended over Dancehall riddims are his trademark with lines like, 'give me headas in the HOV, I’m bout to bust no TTC.' He proved his mastery of the craft on 2016’s Automatic Wine Up which had him working with Jamaican artist Nemesis and Rizzla. Here in Toronto he’s crafted bangers with the likes of Nav, Jaegan and Ramriddlz, and that was only 2016. With the new year just starting we’ve invited Chillaa to Sandbox Studios to talk about what he’s got in store for 2017.
